Our Story

After 30 years as an Aerospace Engineer with the Royal Australian Air Force, our founder knew one thing for certain: the way people are trained determines whether they succeed or fail when it matters most.

In aviation, simulation isn't optional. It's how you prepare people for situations where mistakes have real consequences. Virtulane was founded with a simple question: why aren't more industries using these same approaches to train their people?

What started as a specialist VR company has grown into something broader with a team of engineers, 3D artists, animators, and developers who help organisations rethink how they prepare their people. We work across immersive training, AI integration, digital visualisation, and interactive content. But the thread that connects everything is the same: technology should serve people, not the other way around.

Based in Canberra, Australian-owned, and veteran-led, we serve clients across Defence, education, government, healthcare, and enterprise — both domestically and internationally. We hold relevant Australian Government security clearances, maintain sovereign development capability, and bring the same mission-critical mindset to every project that our aerospace roots demand.


Why We're Different

Most technology companies lead with their tools. We lead with your problem. We've learned that the moment you open a conversation with "VR" or "AI", people stop listening to the outcome and start debating the technology. So we don't do that. We start with what you're trying to achieve — reduced training time, fewer errors, better retention, lower risk — and then we figure out the best way to get you there.

Sometimes that's a fully immersive VR simulation. Sometimes it's an AI-powered learning assistant. Sometimes it's a 3D visualisation that helps a room full of stakeholders see the same thing at the same time. The technology is the means, not the message.

Our in-house team handles everything — 3D modelling, animation, coding, AI integration, and deployment. No outsourcing, no offshore development. Every asset is created by our Australian-based team, maintaining full sovereign capability and quality control throughout.

Measure

We track performance against the metrics we established together at the start. User engagement, knowledge retention, completion rates, time-to-competency — whatever matters to your organisation. If we can't measure it, we can't improve it.

Optimise
